2011 blog review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for my  blog.  Yay WordPress!

Here’s an excerpt:

A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 5,100 times in 2011. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.

Recipes and More!

December 6, 2011 1 comment

If you haven’t already heard, you can now order the Gift of Health Christmas gift box from Beyond Organic.  This is a great way to get started with Beyond Organic, or to send a healthy gift to someone you love.

I also wanted to include 2 new recipes to the archives.  This first is from a fellow blogger at goingbeyondorganic.wordpress.com:

Beef and Cabbage Stir-Fry

6 servings

2 Tbsp. Olive oil
1 lb. Beyond Organic (BYO) ground beef
3 BYO hot dogs, cut julienne style, bite-sized
1/2 head cabbage, cut in bite-sized pieces
4 carrots, cut julienne style, bite-sized
1 onion, cut in bite-sized pieces
2 cloves crushed garlic or to preference
“Real Salt” sea salt
Pepper

In large skillet, heat olive oil and add ground beef, stirring and cooking until no longer pink. Add hot dogs, followed by other ingredients. Cover and cook on low heat until veggies are tender-crisp, about 15 minutes. Season to taste and enjoy!

The second is from my own mom’s kitchen:

Quinoa Veggie Curl in Spaghetti Meat Sauce

Brown 1 lb Beyond Organic Green Fed Beef, salt & pepper to taste. Add italian seasoning and garlic salt to taste.
Saute 1 small onion, and 1 lb mushrooms in olive oil.
Mix together with 1 jar organic basil spaghetti sauce & simmer.
Add in 3/4 cup Beyond Organic Cheddar Cheese

Boil 1 box (8 oz) Quinoa Veggie Curls (it’s like curly noodles) 6 minutes (don’t overcook)

Mix all together & put in casserole dish.
Heat @ 350 20 minutes (or until heated thru). Sprinkle favorite cheese on top (I did parmesan & mozzarella) and heat until melted. Let set a few minutes & serve.

Both are great!!  Be sure to send me your recipe ideas.  I’ll be happy to post them for everyone to see.  Send me an email at hdh517sdh at yahoo (dot) com with any questions!  www.eatorganicmeals.com

The Verdict Is Out

December 1, 2011 2 comments

I’ve done one home tasting, 3 health fairs, and countless ‘family gatherings’ with the Beyond Organic products as of December 1st, the first day of our second month!  It’s been a whirlwind of activity, but so rewarding and so FUN.  I’ve learned a lot about each product, why they are important for my health and my family’s health, how we can produce such a high quality product and why very few other companies can, and also about the amazing opportunity Beyond Organic gives to distributors like myself.

It’s only the beginning of our second month, so very few people have had the opportunity that we have had to try these products.  So, I wanted to share what I’ve found out:

The hot dogs (or steak dogs, as some people call them) are an amazing thing.  Do you have any idea what’s actually in a hot dog purchased at the grocery store?  Google it.  You’ll be completely grossed out, then have mommy or daddy guilt for actually feeding it to your kids.  Our ‘steak dogs’ are uncured and 100% beef in natural beef casing.  The following is a list of ingredients:

Beef, water,
organic honey, sea salt,
organic mustard, organic
paprika, celery powder,
organic coriander,
organic garlic, organic
black pepper.

That’s it.  Nothing else.  I’m perfectly fine with feeding that to my family.  Actually, we cut a few of those dogs up, sauteed them with coconut oil, onions, yellow and orange bell peppers and a little sea salt and it was delicious.

The same goes for our ground beef.  It’s just Green Fed Beef.

The Amasai speaks for itself.  It’s breakfast, it’s lunch, it’s desert.  What ever you want to make it….  We made Amasai ice cream by pouring a bottle of Plain Amasai in a blender with a bunch of very frozen bananas.  OMG.  And it was HEALTHY!  Last night I made an entire blender full of a ‘special desert’ using a bottle of Amasai, an almost too ripe apple and three bananas.  The.Best.Smoothie.Ever.  We even had leftovers for breakfast!  And don’t get me started on my Raspberry Amasai Overnight Oats.  YUMMY

I mentioned I’ve done 3 health fairs.  Guess what my biggest seller/hit was?  The SueroViv!  The idea of bringing back whey into our diets is genius.  The response to trying the SueroViv was very interesting.  After sampling the product, so many people said, “This tastes so CLEAN!  I’ll take 2!”

We have a box of the probiotic dark chocolate sitting at the checkout desk in our office.  It’s good enough that one person comes back at least twice a week to buy a bar for her lunch.  You know I’m talking about you, Cheryl!  (No last names, of course;)

These are just a few of our products.  We will be adding even more throughout 2012, so check back often!

What’s in Your Meat?

Beyond Organic sells Green-Fed beef, so for the consumer it’s important to know the difference between organic and conventionally raised beef, and all meats in general.   As discussed in previous posts, the Green-Fed diet that Beyond Organic cattle are fed is a natural, pesticide/herbicide/toxin free diet.  The cattle graze on rotated pastures, which allows the plants in their natural diets (grasses, legumes, forbes, etc.) to be fully sustainable.

Conventional beef cattle are not so lucky.  They spend the majority, if not all, of their lives in cramped and confined areas, often in their own waste and are fed a diet that is unnatural for a ruminant animal (even animal carcass).  They are injected with growth hormones to promote faster growth, antibiotics to prevent disease and most likely, they don’t have any access to the outdoors.

So, what’s in your meat?

Our government allows the following to be used in feed or conventional production:

Dairy cattle:  antibiotics, pig and chicken byproducts, hormones for growth, pesticides and sewage sludge

Beef Cows:  antibiotics, pig and chicken byproducts, hormones, steroids, pesticides, sewage sludge

Pigs:  antibiotics, animal byproducts, pesticides, sewage sludge, arsenic based drugs

Broiler Chickens:  antibiotics, animal byproducts, pesticides, sewage sludge, arsenic based drugs

Egg Laying Hens:  antibiotics, animal byproducts, pesticides, sewage sludge, arsenic based drugs

Being educated is key when it comes to your health and your family’s health.  You can either eat conventionally produced meats or you can eat Beyond Organic meats.  If you would like to become a customer or a distributor of Beyond Organic, click here.

Do you play darts? A sustainable pasture.

September 28, 2011 1 comment

Picture a dart board.  You have rotating circles around a bullseye.  When you think of a cattle farm, is that how you picture their grazing pastures laid out?  Of course not.  Most cattle spend most of their lives on laid out pasture land, then spend the last few months on a feed lot being stuffed with grain and soy beans.  Ruminant animals were never meant to eat grain and soy.  So, why the dart board?

Grass is a perinnial plant.  When you rotate ruminant animals around it, they not only cut the grass by grazing, but they also prune the trees (yes, cows eat leaves…who knew!), bushes, etc.  Cattle eat everything green.  All of this cutting and pruning spurs new growth, and all of the trampling helps push manuar and other composting organic matter back into the soil.  This, in turn, creates a rich and healthy pasture for the next rotation of cattle.

The cattle rotation starts on the outside rings and works towards the middle rings.  On a dairy farm, you’ll usually find a milking barn in the bullseye.  This is what it means to have a fully sustainable pasture.  Happy, healthy, green fed cows make happy, healthy, food for you and your family.  If you are interested in finding out more about sustainable agriculture and the foods it procuces, click here.

What did I learn today?

I had the honor of doing a company health fair in downtown Oklahoma City today.  It’s a health fair that we do every year for our Chiropractic office, but I’ve never discussed my business before.  Holy cow was I pleasantly surprised by the AWESOMENESS of the the people I talked to today!  I’ve said it a thousand times on this blog, “I KNOW I have chosen the right company to work for in Beyond Organic!”

As soon as I start telling people about this company, they listen.  People want to hear about these products, and so many people are already so intelligent when it comes to what it means to being organic, sustainable, non GMO, etc.  This isn’t new to them.  And to the ones that don’t understand these terms, they want to learn!  Way to go, you guys, and you know who you are.

If you want to learn more, come listen to what the leaders in OK have to say about Beyond Organic.  I, along with 4 other hosts, are holding an informational meeting in Edmond, OK on September 27th from 7pm to 9:30pm at Faith Church.  The address is 1700 S. Bryant Ave.

I can’t wait to see you there!
